Gunters Bay is a 300 m wide southwest-facing very low energy bay that lies to the lee of Point Reid, the westernmost section of the granite shore. The beach (FI 15) occupies 600 m of the curving southwest-facing shore of the bay continuing to the west to finally grade into the tidal flats of Petrification Bay. It receives low wind waves generated across 5 km wide Petrification Bay and consists of a 5 m wide high tide beach fronted by intertidal sand flats, with the South Coast road running right behind.
