Pot Boil beach (FI 10) is a crenulate 6 km long south- to southwest-facing reflective beach that extends from Dick Davey Shoal in the east to Pot Boil Point in the west where it forms the eastern entrance to Franklin Sound and is dominated by the strong tidal currents that flow through the 3 km wide entrance. The beach is largely sheltered from ocean waves by the Pot Boil tidal shoals that extend 3 km seaward of the eastern end of the beach, as well as the southern shoals off Vansittart Island, which extend several kilometres offshore. The Pot Boil shoals narrow to the west extending halfway along the beach. As a consequence the beach receives low easterly swell together with westerly wind waves generated inside the sound. These processes have built a series of several recurved spits that are hinged to the western end of the beach, splaying to the east where they widen to 2 km and have blocked the southern end of Logan Lagoon. The eastern half of the beach and spits are part of the Logan Lagoon Wildlife Sanctuary. The beach can be accessed in the centre along the Pot Boil road and the track that follows the sanctuary boundary track.
