Beach T 1196 continues to the east for 700 m as a curving 700 m long sandy beach also fronted by the continuous mixture of sand bar and rock reefs which narrow to 150 m in the east. The hummocky dunes continue along the rear of the beach, which is also cut by a small creek. Beach T 1197 extends east of the boundary foreland for 1.6 km to the small Curries River mouth. The crenulate north-facing beach becomes increasingly dominated by shallow basalt reefs and boulder flats, with the river mouth flowing out across an extensive boulder flat. The hummocky dunes continue along the rear of the beach to the river mouth, with the small settlement of Beechford located on the southern side of the river. Besides a score of holiday houses, Beechford has a shop, camping area, sports ground and footbridge across the river to the beach and to the Stony Head beach.
