Potato Hill is a subdued 30 m high hill located 500 m south of the southern end of beach T 1189. The beach extends from the low cobble-based basalt headland that separates it from East Beach, for 1.25 km to a narrow cobble foreland that extends 200 m seaward. The beach has a continuous high tide cobble swash zone with a 150 m wide sandy low tide bar, that grades seaward into subtidal rocky seabed. A 500 m long ridge of intertidal cobbles extends straight out to a low islet from near the centre of the beach. It is backed by a 10-15 m high-vegetated foreland, and then vegetated Holocene and Pleistocene transgressive dunes that extend up to 2.5 km inland. There is 4WD access at the north end of the beach.
Beach Length: 1.25km
General Hazard Rating: 5/10
