Beach T 1202 is a crenulate 1.5 km long strip of narrow discontinuous high tide sand backed by generally steep vegetated rocky slopes, which are cliffed in places and rise to 40-50 m. It is fronted by continuous intertidal rock flats averaging 100 m in width and in places extending 200 m offshore, with sandy seabed beyond. The beach faces north and is moderately sheltered from westerly waves by Stony Head, with waves averaging about 1 m along the rocky shoreline. There is 4WD access to the top of the backing bluffs, however access is restricted as the beach is located within the artillery range.
