Beach T 1199 commences at the boundary sandy foreland and continues to the northeast for 3.8 km to the first rocks of Stony Head, which extend westward as 500 m wide intertidal rock flats. The beach is exposed to westerly winds and waves which average over 1 m and maintain a 150 m wide low tide bar usually cut by up to 10 rips along the central-northern section, with rock flats dominating the first few hundred metres of the beach. Vegetated Holocene longwalled parabolic dunes extend up to 2 km inland, with Pleistocene dunes paralleling the coast for several kilometres to the east. Three small creeks flow out of the dunes and across the beach, which is entirely located within the artillery range.
