Beach T 1213 extends along the eastern side of the river mouth. It commences at the 50 m wide sandy river mouth and trends to the north, then northeast for 500 m to the low rocky sand-draped Pipers Head. It is a narrow high tide beach, fronted in the south by the deep river-tidal channel, with intertidal rock flats composed of steeply dipping greywacke that widen to the north and extend 200 m off the head. The small community of Bellingham is located just inside the eastern side of the river mouth, with recently vegetated transgressive dunes climbing the 60 m high slopes behind the beach. A 4WD track reaches the head from the eastern side.
