Emerald Bay is located 1 km southwest of the prominent 101 m high Johnsons Point. The western end of the small 200 m wide bay contains a curving 150 m long cobble beach (T 272), fronted by rocks along its southern half. Rising tree-covered slopes back it to the north and lower cleared slopes to the south.
