Alginate Bay is located on the western side of Spring Bay entrance, 1 km west of Paddys Point. The small bay and backing valley houses the Louisville Resort, which includes accommodation, pool, jetty and an attached breakwater to shelter the jetty. The Maria Island passenger ferry leaves from the jetty. The jetty is located at the southern end of the 80 m long pocket of sand and gravel that makes up the beach (T 261).
