Freestone Cove is a small west-facing cove containing a 50 m long pocket of dark sand and gravel (beach T 259), located to the lee of the woodchip jetty. The deep water of the bay lies a few tens of metres off the beach, which is backed by wooded bluffs, then the woodchip mill. The water intake for the mill is located on the northern end of the beach.
