Garden Island Sands beach (T 504) is located at the mouth of Garden Island Creek. The 400 m long beach is bordered by the creek at its eastern end and steep wooded slopes rising to 200 m on either side. The beach consists of a 5 m wide strip of high tide sands fronted by 100 m wide sand flats. Two rows of houses back the beach, with the Lowes Road connecting to the highway, which parallels the creek and crosses it 1 km north of the beach.
