Beach T 574 is located on the side of Point Vivian inside a 20 m wide gap in the rocks 150 m south of the western end of the beach. The gap opens into a 100 m wide cove with the beach curving round the rocky shore for 150 m and facing east out of the gap. Large waves flow through the gap and break over the 100 m long ridge of metasedimentary rocks and spread out around the curving beach to maintain a sloping reflective to low tide terrace beach and a central surging 30 m wide tidal pool. The beach is backed by densely vegetated slopes rising to 60 m and can only be reached with difficulty along the rocks.
