Big Lagoon Beach (T 544) is a southeast-facing 2.5 km long exposed beach that extends from the southern side of the bedrock to the southern bedrock boundary of the lagoon. The beach receives waves averaging about 1.5 m, which maintain a rip-dominated 50-100 m wide surf zone, with up to 10 rips along the beach, as well as a permanent rip against the northern rocks. Wave height decreases slightly towards the southern end. The beach is backed by a 200 m wide foredune, which narrows to 50 m in the south and is crossed by two walking tracks from the lagoon shore. A rough, boggy vehicle track reaches the southern end of the beach.
