Pickup Beach (T 503) is a straight 800 m long south-southwest-facing beach backed by three rows of houses, which make up the small Verona Sands subdivision (Fig. 4.88). The beach occupies an open embayment fed by Lasts Creek, which crosses the western end of the beach and is bordered by Ninepin Point to the east and a smaller headland to the west. Low wind waves generated in the channel reach the sandy beach and maintain an often cusped reflective to narrow low tide terrace beach. It is backed by a low well vegetated tree-lined foredune then the houses, with the highway 200 m to the rear. There is a store in the settlement and a boat ramp and picnic area at the western end of the beach by the small usually blocked creek mouth.
Beach Length: 0.8km
General Hazard Rating: 3/10
