Rocky Point is a sand-draped 20 m high rocky granite point that protrudes 500 m to the north, with Disappointment Bay to the west and a near continuous strip of five sandy beaches (KI 2-6) to the southeast. Beach KI 2 commences in lee of the northern rocks of the point and curves to the south for 300 m to a small rock-tied sand foreland. It faces due east and receives low refracted westerly waves, with a low tide terrace usually dominating the narrow surf zone. Beach KI 3 extends south of the foreland for another 600 m to a 200 m long section of 15 m high rocky shoreline. The beach faces northeast, with waves averaging 0.5-1 m, which maintain a low tide terrace cut by one to two rips during periods of higher waves. Both beaches are backed by the dunes that have transgressed across the base of the point from Disappointment Bay.
