At Three Hut Point the shoreline turns and trends to the west for 7 km to Ninepin Point, where it turns slightly to the northwest and continues for another 2 km to Garden Island Point. The Channel Highway runs along beside the shore at the base of densely wooded slopes rising 200-300 m. Most of the shore is dominated by dolerite rocks and boulders, with only three beaches (T 501-503). Beach T 501 is located 500 m southwest of the point in the open southeast-facing Pensioners Bay. It consists of a slightly curving 300 m long cobble and boulder beach with the highway running 30 m in from the shore.
