Trial Bay is a curving 600 m wide embayment bordered by Kettering and Deadmans points. Beach T 484 occupies the northwestern shore of the bay and consists of a high tide cobble beach fronted by sand flats that widen to 300 m in the centre of the bay. A picnic area, toilets and boat ramp occupy the small reserve behind the beach, with the Channel Highway clipping the western end. Flights Creek separates the two beaches, with beach T 485 trending to the south for another 300 m to the inner slopes of Deadmans Point. It is a similar low, narrow cobble beach located to the rear of the sand flats, with salt marsh growing towards the southern end of the beach. The highway then sloping cleared farmland back the beach.
