The McDowall Rivulet reaches the shore 1 km to the south forming a small cobble delta that extends 100 m out across the sand flats. Beach T 498 extends south of the creek mouth for 200 m as a narrow high tide cobble beach. A few small buildings and a jetty are located immediately south of the creek mouth. They service the oyster racks located 200 m offshore.
