Beach BI 82 is the largest beach in the bay. It faces west-southwest towards the bay entrance and extends for 900 m between the southern boundary rocks and the mouth of Saltwater Creek. The narrow beach is fronted by 700 m wide ridged sand flats. It is backed by a low barrier, a deflected creek and wetlands, with the main road running along the rear of the southern half of the beach then skirting 100-200 m inland around the wetlands. The backing cleared slopes rise to 116 km at Big Lookout, 2 km to the east on the rugged east coast of the island.
