Beach T 487 extends for 500 m along the northern shore of 700 m wide Little Periwinkle Bay. It is a discontinuous narrow high tide sand and cobble beach, which terminates at the small mouth of Bates Creek in the southern corner of the bay. One hundred metre wide sand and rock flats parallel the beach, which is backed by tree-covered bluffs rising to 20 m then cleared farmland.
