Okines Beach (T 396) is located immediately north of Dodges Ferry and runs north for 1 km forming the eastern shore of the inner entrance to Pitt Water. The beach is sheltered by the entrance tidal shoals and its estuarine location with usually calm conditions at the shore. The low narrow high tide beach, with a central seawall, is fronted by 300 m wide sand flats then the 400 m wide entrance channel with its strong tidal flows. Beachfront houses back most of the beach, which is also crossed by two small creeks.
