Sommers Bay occupies a small valley that links Conical Hill and Point to the peninsula. At the base of the 1 km wide U-shaped bay is a narrow 200 m long south-facing shelly high tide beach (T 368), fronted by 200 m wide ridged sand flats. The Sommers Bay Road terminates behind the centre of the beach, which is backed by a 50 m wide tree-filled reserve, with cleared land and several houses behind and on the slopes that rise to either side of the beach.
