Big Possum Beach (T 315) extends for 900 m along the western shore of the bay between the base of Commandants Point and the smaller Brick Point, with the settlement backing the northern half of the beach. It is a narrow high tide beach fronted by 50-100 m wide sand flats then seagrass meadows. The Safety Cove Road runs along the rear of the beach with houses on the western side of the road. Boats are stored on the beach with two small jetties crossing the beach to deeper water.
