Tunnel Bay is located 8 km west of Basket By and can be assessed along the Tunnel Bay walking track off the Stormlea Road. The 700 m deep funnel-shaped bay narrows from 600 m to 100 m with a curving 150 m long west-facing boulder beach (T 324) at the base of the bay. Waves are lowered to about 1 m at the beach where they surge up the steep boulder beach face. Tunnel Bay Creek crosses the northern end of the beach. The famous, or infamous, Shipstern Bluff point break is located 1 km southeast of the bay, and can be reached along a walking track off the Tunnel Bay track.
