Western Bay is located 300 m west of Boat Harbour and consists of a 300 m long rocky cove sheltered by shore-parallel rock reef across most of the entrance. Inside is a lower energy rocky shore, with an 80 m long beach (T 1053) tucked in the eastern corner between two 100 m long narrow rock ridges. The beach faces west and is sheltered by the rock ridge and its orientation with usually very low wave to calm conditions at the shore. The low gradient sandy beach is replaced at mid tide by shallow rock flats. It is backed by partly cleared, tree-covered slopes, with an access road from the harbour terminating 100 m from the beach.
Beach Length: 0.08km
General Hazard Rating: 3/10
