East Wynyard Beach (T 1063) commences against the 200 m long eastern training wall of the Inglis River. It curves to the east for 1 km to a low sandy foreland tied to intertidal rock flats by a 300 m long partly submerged curving groyne. It consists of a low gradient high tide beach grading into 200-300 m wide intertidal sand flats fringed by reefs extending up to 400 m seaward. It is backed by a caravan park against the groyne, a 50 m wide grassy reserve with three car parks and a small central swimming pool, all backed by the old highway. Beach T 1064 continues east of the foreland for another 200 m to the next reef-tied sandy foreland. The high tide beach grades into 100 m wide low tide sand flats which are partly encircled by the groyne and outer rock flats. A narrow grassy reserve then a row of houses and the old highway back the beach.
Beach Length: 0.2km
