Wynyard Golf Course occupies an area of low land between Fossil Bluff and the mouth of the Inglis River. This section of coast has prograded seaward between the bluff and a river-mouth training wall that extends out across shallow reefs to Blackboy Rocks. Two north-facing beaches (T 1061 and 1062) front the golf course, separated by a central reef-controlled sandy foreland. Beach T 1061 is a curving 250 m long high tide sand beach fronted by 150 m wide intertidal rock flats. Beach T 1062 is a similar 300 m long curving beach fronted by the continuous rock flats that extend to the training wall. Both beaches are backed by continuous low beach-foredune ridges that comprise the golf course, while the beach can only be accessed on foot across the course.
