Edwards Bay is a 1.5 km wide southwest-facing rocky bay bordered by Trumpeter Point to the west and the Bird Islets to the south. Cape Sorell lies 1.5 km to the northwest. Four beaches (T 786-789) occupy parts of the bay shore, while beach T 785 lies south of the islets.
Grandfathers Beach (T 785) is located at the base of irregular rocky slopes that rise to 60 m to a collection of rocks called The Grandfathers. The beach curves to the north for 600 m as a narrow high tide sand and cobble beach fronted by continuous, irregular inter- to supratidal rock flats, ranging in width from 50-100 m and cut by several gutters. Two small creeks descend the backing slopes to cross the southern end and centre of the beach. It is moderately sheltered by the platforms and rocks and reefs extending up to 1 km offshore with waves averaging less than 1 m at the shore and only reaching the beach at high tide.
Beach Length: 0.6km
