Between Shelly Beach and Punchbowl is six kilometres of sloping, rocky coast backed by farms with no public access. In the central portion of this section are five small unnamed beaches, here called Beaches 169 to 173. Four are backed by cleared slopes and grassy sandstone bluffs, which rise steeply for 20 to 70 m. Beach 171 is in a gully and has a small creek crossing the beach. All except Beach 171 are backed by small foredunes. The beaches are separated by a series of small sandstone headlands, each fronted by rock platforms. The beaches all receive waves averaging just over 1 m, which produce a single attached bar on each beach. The bar is usually cut by two rips on the longer beaches and one on the smaller beaches; the rips run out against the small headlands.
