The southern shore of Pender Bay consists of three longer north-facing sand beaches, that extend for 17 km from the base of Perpendicular Head at Embalgun to the 2 km wide mouth of Kelk Creek. Embalgun beach (K 77) commences 3 km south of Perpendicular Head, as the red bluffs give way to the 7 km long sandy beach. The beach initially faces east and is backed by bright red eroding 10 m high bluffs. It then curves round to face north for most of its length where it is backed by low vegetated dunes, finally terminating in the east at the base of 40 m high red bluffs. The beach is protected from westerly waves and is for the most part fronted by 300-400 m wide sand flats, together with scattered rocks and rock flats. A solitary straight vehicle track reaches Embalgun at the western end of the beach.
Beach Length: 7km
