Goodenough Bay is an open 5 km wide east-facing bay bordered by Amatangoora and Foul points. The intervening 16 km of shoreline are entirely mangroves apart from two low energy beaches (K 145 and 146). Beach K 145 is located on the western shore of the bay, 2.5 km southwest of Amatangoora Point. It consists of a 100 m long gap in the mangroves which is fronted by 1 km wide sand to mud flats, as well as the tidal channels from an adjacent creek mouth. Murdeh Point lies 5 km to the south and is the terminus and outermost of a 4 km long series of seven recurved spits emanating from Foul Point.
