Cape Baskerville forms the northern entrance to Carnot Bay. The low bedrock-controlled cape faces west, but curves round into the bay entrance to face south at its southern end. Smirnoff Beach (K 41) occupies the cape and trends northeast for a total of 14 km to Red Bluff. The beach is crenulate throughout, owing to outcrops of red bluffs and rock flats, with the high tide beach fronted by a mixture of rock flats and rubble up to 1 km wide. It is backed by a mixture of active and older blufftop dunes, which reach heights of 36 m, together with red bluffs, in the centre and toward the northern end. It terminates at Red Bluff, where there is an easterly inflection in the shoreline. A vehicle track leads to the southern side of the bluff where two small blufftop communities are located.
Beach Length: 14km
General Hazard Rating: 2/10
