Beach WA 1489 commences on the northern side of the gap and continues to the point where the foreland is 600 m wide and then curves to the northeast then east to the northern end of the foreland, where it narrows to 100 m. It has a total length of 3.4 km. On the northern side of the 200 m wide gap in the reefs is a long righthand surf break. The reef and lagoon continue around the point, terminating at the beginning of the boundary embayment. The beach is backed by a 100 m wide band of active dunes, then vegetated foredune ridges, which are being encroached on by the southern dunes.
