The bluffs emerge at the shore at Amherst Point, a 20 m high 100 m long bluffed section. Beach WA 1479 commences on the northern side of the point and trends for 2.4 km to the north-northeast, then northeast as a convex sandy foreland formed in lee of scattered reefs extending up to 1 km offshore. The southern 1 km of beach is paralleled by a near continuous beachrock reef located 50 m offshore, with a lagoon between the reef and shore. Waves averaging about 1 m break over the reef and flow out as permanent rips though the gaps in the reef. Along the northern half the beachrock is attached to the shore, with wave breaking on the outer edge of the rocks. The beach is backed by a generally stable foredune ridge plain, which widens to 500 m in the centre, then the 15 m high bluffline. The beach terminates on the southern side of Bulbari Point, a 500 m long, 15 m high section of bluffs.
Beach Length: 2.4km
General Hazard Rating: 5/10
