Boolbarly Well is located at the mouth of a usually dry upland creek system, the creek blocked by beach WA 1483. The beach starts on the northern side of the sand draped-bluffs that separate it from beach WA 1482 and extends for 900 m to the north. The beach is backed and interrupted by an irregular outcrop of calcarenite, which forms bluffs at the northern end. It is backed by a reactivated older parabolic dune that parallels the beach. The southern end also blocks the Boolbarly Well drainage system, which only breaks out across the beach following rare heavy rain. A vehicle track terminates at the dry creek mouth.
