On the northern side of the bluffs the shore becomes increasingly protected by the continuation of the reefs located 1.5 km offshore. As a consequence a sandy foreland widens to the north. Beach WA 1499 commences at the bluffs and continues north for 2.7 km to the tip of the 500 m wide foreland, known as 14 Mile Camp. The foreland consists of a well preserved sequence of foredune ridges, which splay to the north and are backed by a 20 m high line of bluffs, with older vegetated parabolics on top of the bluffs extending up to 1 km to the north.
