The Oakajee River mouth beach (WA 1098) is a curving 1.4 km sandy beach bordered by reef-induced sandy forelands. The reef deepens across the slight embayment with a 500 m wide sandy channel extending seaward of the river mouth. Waves break over the boundary reefs arriving unbroken along the central beach section, where they average about 1 m. The waves combine with the coarser sand to maintain a reflective to low tide terrace beach, with rips forming during periods of higher waves. The beach is backed by vegetated transgressive dunes to either side of the river, with farmland following the river valley to the rear of the foredune. A 4 WD track runs out to the beach.
