Stark Bay is a 650 m wide curving northwest-facing, embayment, containing a continuous 800 m long beach (RI 54). The southern sandy foreland has formed in lee of an inshore reef to which it is attached. The centre of the bay is more open with patchy seagrass growing close to shore, while reefs again lie off the northern side of the bay. The beach has an area of active dunes extending up to 300 m inland in lee of the foreland, with vegetated dunes behind the reminder. A spur off the island road leads to the northern end of the beach. During bigger swell a very heavy left hand break forms over the reefs in the bay.
Beach Length: 0.8km
