Gum Tree Bay beach (WA 1047) is a curving 2.8 km long slight indentation in the shoreline bordered by sandy forelands. The Gum Tree Bay shacks occupy the southern half of the bay, with some shacks located on the edge of the beach and in danger of erosion (Fig. 4.251). Seagrass meadows and shallow reefs extend well seaward and seagrass debris commonly litters the high tide beach. A 2 km long blowout extends north of the northern half of the beach, with vegetated dunes backing the remainder, including a small stand of gum trees just behind the centre of the beach, which lends its name to the bay.
Beach Length: 2.8km
General Hazard Rating: 2/10
