Beach WA 943 is located 700 m to the north and consists of a slightly seaward curving 800 m long sandy high tide beach, located to the lee of inner reefs, with patchy intertidal calcarenite paralleling most of the shore. The southern side of the foreland is known as Lawry Bay. Between the shore and the inner reefs is a 100 m wide open ‘lagoon’ with a generally sandy seafloor. Low waves to calm conditions commonly prevail at the beach. The former shack community was located along the rear of the southern half of the beach. Between the former Flat Rock shack area and Grey is a relatively straight 6 km of north-northwest trending shoreline, dominated by low calcarenite bluffs and inner and outer calcarenite reefs. To the north of Flat Rock beach (WA 943) are five beaches (WA 944-948) the northernmost terminating on the southern side of the small Grey headland. The 4 WD track runs along the rear of beaches WA 944-947, before turning 500 m inland to reemerge on the coast at Grey. All the beaches are backed by vegetated transgressive dunes rising to 30-40 m, with a large active sand sheet extending from 0.5-3 km east of Grey. The southern boundary of the Nambung National Park is located towards the southern end of beach WA 947.
