Beach WA 940 commences 50 m north of the end of beach WA 939. It is bordered and backed by low 3 m high calcarenite bluffs, with patchy reef to either end and offshore and only a 100 m long central sandy section, with a low gradient bar. Waves break on the reefs 100-300 m offshore, with usually calm conditions at the shore.
