Beach WA 979 is a 50 m long pocket of south-facing sand located between the northern breakwater and inner groyne. It is backed by a low dune, then the port commercial area, with the port road terminating behind the beach. All three beaches are sheltered from ocean waves and are calm apart from boat wakes.
