Beach WA 980 commences at the northern breakwater and continues north for 1.7 km to Middle Head, a 200 m long section of dune-draped calcarenite bluffs rising 10-15 m. Waves average up to 1 m along this section and often maintain a 50 m wide attached bar, which during strong sea breeze conditions may be cut by small 50 m beach rips spaced about 50 m apart. A foredune, then deflated area associated with a large parabolic, back the beach
