Beach WA 987 commences at the northern end of the bluffs where they is a blufftop shack and curves to the west and finally southwest for 1.6 km terminating in lee of North Head. Patchy reef lies off the beach and waves are low along the shore. It is backed by a 5-10 m high foredune and both vegetated and some active parabolic dunes. North Head marks the northern boundary of Jurien Bay and the beginning of a 6 km long section of coast that trends north to Sandy Point (Fig. 4.243). It is sheltered by inshore calcarenite reefs and Sandland Island. In between are eight near continuous sandy beaches (WA 988-995). Shack communities were located in lee of beaches WA 988, 990, 992 and 995, however these were all removed by 2001, and the myriad of 4 WD tracks rationalised when the Jurien-Green Head section of the Indian Ocean Drive was completed in the same year.
