Beach WA 8 is located between the cuspate foreland formed in lee of a more prominent offshore reef, and Red Rock Point. It is a curving 1.5 km long very low energy beach, which is usually completely covered with dense piles of seagrass, which reach 2 m in height and hinder access to the shore. The seagrass berm continues right around the point. The point itself is also covered with clifftop dunes originating from neighbouring Middini Beach. The vehicle track from Red Rock runs around the point to the Middini Beach dunes, providing access to the dunes and beach. At Red Rock the trend of the shoreline turns slightly more to the west and gradually curves round for 75 km to Scorpion Bight by which time the coast is trending due west. There are three long beach along this section (WA 9-11), with vehicle access only in the east via Red Rock (152 km) and the Middini track (171 km), and in the centre down from Mandura (202 km). To the west of Mandura there are no tracks until the Eyre Bird Observatory at 279 km. This entire section is within the Nuytsland Nature Reserve and apart from the tracks and the Observatory, there is no development or habitation along this section.
Beach Length: 1.5km
