Beach WA 6 commences to the west of Low Point and trends west as a crenulate, low energy, low gradient, beach and bar fronted by seagrass meadows usually 100-200 m offshore, while it is backed by low foredunes. Much of the first 33 km to Noonaera is backed by low (<5 m) relatively stable foredune ridge plains varying in width from 100-400 m, then a near continuous 100-300 m wide linear salt flats, occupying the back barrier depression, with some older dunes and ridges extending up to 1 km further inland (Fig. 4.6). In total an undulating 1-2 km wide Holocene barrier forms the coastline. West of Noonaera the same type of coast originally extended to the boundary with beach WA-7, narrowing to the west. In places however dune activity has reactivated the foredune which has blown inland across the salt flats and backing dunes, with the active dunes ranging from 1-2 km in width and occupying about 50% of the western 22 km of the beach.
