Beach WA 7 commences on the eastern side of a small embayment, where a straight north-south track reaches the shore. The beach continues west for 16.5 km to the prominent low foreland 2 km east of Red Rock, which also marks the approximate boundary of Nuytsland Nature Reserve. The beach remains crenulate and low energy and is backed by generally stable low foredunes, which form a narrow (<500 m wide) band in front of older higher transgressive dunes. At the eastern end of the beach the transgressive dunes extend up to 16 km inland. The Red Rock track winds through a 2 km wide section of 30 m high vegetated dunes before reaching the coast. The Red Rock track is well used and in generally good condition. It services a few shacks located between the beach access area and the point, as well as occasional fishers. Tracks run east of the access point down to the well dug by John Eyre in 1841, and west for 10 km to the shacks and the point area. The beach remains a low gradient low energy system, with higher waves breaking on the outer reef. Towards the point the beach becomes more moderate gradient but is increasingly dominated by seagrass debris, as well as beachrock, which outcrops towards the western end.
Beach Length: 16.5km
