Turquoise Bay lies to the lee of a prominent sandy foreland that has prograded 600 m seaward to the lee of 1 km wide section of fringing reef and its adjacent 200 m wide channel (Fig. 4.352). Turquoise Beach (WA 1569) occupies the southern side of the foreland. It is a west-facing 1 km long sandy beach fronted by a sandy bay floor grading into the shallow reef flats. It is backed by the low foredune ridges of the foreland.
