From Point Maxwell mangroves dominate the shore for 7 km to the east across the top of the peninsula, to a slight 1.5 km wide embayment containing beach WA 1633. The beach is 1.8 km long, faces north up the gulf across 1 km wide tidal flats. It is backed by the gently rising terrain of the lightly wooded peninsula. Vehicle tracks parallel the rear of the beach and reach the eastern end of the beach.
This low energy peninsula marks the end of the Exmouth Peninsula and western gulf beaches. To the east of the beach is 6 km wide Giralia Bay, which typifies much of the shoreline to the east and north. The bay shoreline consists of 10 km wide supratidal salt flats, a 1 km wide band of mangroves and tidal flats extending up to 5 km into the bay, edged by deep tidal channels.
