Potshot Beach (WA 1618) commences on the south side of the protruding creek mouth 4 km south of Kailis. The beach initially trends south, but after 1 km curves to the southeast as part of the 7 km long barrier spit. The spit is 200-300 wide and is paralleled for parts of its length by elongate salt flats. The beach has a total length of 6 km and terminates at the concrete Learmouth groyne and jetty, which partly blocks the southerly sand transport causing an offset in the beach. The beach is very low energy and often calm, with sand flats extending 100 m offshore and patchy fringing reef beyond. The Potshot memorial and a fish processing plant back the southern end of the beach.
Beach Length: 6km
General Hazard Rating: 1/10
